FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Is this opportunity REALLY free of charge?
Yes it is! There is no "catch". The only costs to you are your expenses to reach the retreat location.
2. How are retreats funded?
While retreats are free to participants, they do cost money. This funding is raised each year through individual contributors, local churches, and agencies who feel inclined to donate.
3. What's the purpose of these retreats?
Our prayer and goal is to provide an occasion for the Holy Spirit to direct us into substantial personal evaluation of our walk with Christ and to understand the stressors unique to global workers. Within the context of small group conversation and prayer, participants have the chance to apply the Scriptures relevant to returning to a "first love" of Jesus Christ.
4. What are retreats like?
Each retreat is 5 nights and 6 days in length, beginning Sunday afternoon and ending Friday morning. Please plan to stay for the entire retreat. There are about 16 participants per retreat, served by a Shepherd and Serve team. Attendance is required for a two hour study and small group session on selected—not all---mornings or evenings. Otherwise, afternoons and evenings are totally free for long walks, naps, and a variety of optional activities, depending on the retreat site. Participants eat breakfast and lunch on their own schedule. All food is provided.
Highly qualified pastoral care givers serve each retreat, and are available for private conversation.
5. Who can attend a retreat?
- Full time global workers
- missionaries and pastors (associates or senior pastors)
- stateside mission agency personnel
- expatriate or nationals
- singles or couples
