FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. WHY IS ELIM NO LONGER FREE TO PARTICIPANTS?
The registration fee for a missionary or pastor is now $160.00 per person. This is roughly half the actual cost to feed and house a participant for a 5 night, 6 day retreat. At this rate, the cost is about $25.00 per person per day. We feel its important for participants to make this reasonable investment in their own self care.
2. IS ANY SCHOLARSHIP HELP AVAILABLE?
For those who can not afford the registration fee, there is a possibility of a partial scholarship. Those truly needing this sort of help should contact Mary Chandler at hchandler1953@yahoo.com for further information.
3. What's the purpose of these retreats?
Our prayer and goal is to provide an occasion for the Holy Spirit to direct us into substantial personal evaluation of our walk with Christ and to understand the stressors unique to global workers. Within the context of small group conversation and prayer, participants have the chance to apply the Scriptures relevant to returning to a "first love" of Jesus Christ.
4. What are retreats like?
Each retreat is 5 nights and 6 days in length. Please plan to stay for the entire retreat. There are about 16 participants per retreat, served by a Shepherd and Serve team. Attendance is required for a two hour study and small group session on selected—not all---mornings or evenings. Otherwise, afternoons and evenings are totally free for long walks, naps, and a variety of optional activities, depending on the retreat site. Participants eat breakfast and lunch on their own schedule. All food is provided.
Highly qualified pastoral care givers serve each retreat, and are available for private conversation.
